Energy systems are transforming due to the incorporation of multiple distributed energy resources, such as renewable and battery storage systems. This transformation has triggered a need shift power distribution from low efficiency centralized model with high coordination costs decentralized system comprising smart grids. Researchers have discovered number uses for blockchain technology in sector because its structure possibility safe transactions. In order pinpoint current trends important research directions this area, article thoroughly examines effects on grids resources. The aim paper is also identify gaps future initiatives area blockchain-based distribution. To do this, 92 publications were subjected comprehensive literature review based predetermined criteria. Transactive Energy, Electric Vehicle Integration, Privacy Security, Demand Response, together some other relatively fresh unexplored topics, were, therefore, highlighted four major focal areas research. We drawn attention that already been done constraints imposed by present must be removed before can widely used.
